 Clubs at St. John School

Currently there are several after-school clubs operating at St. John School.  Please see below for details about each club. 


 
clubs running 2012

Running Club

Meets every Wednesday from 3 – 4pm, Mrs. Pearson's room.

Grades 5-8

 Made up of people of all strides. We have runners, walkers, and everyone in between. We set goals and work on meeting them. We are aiming for a 5k or 1 mile race at the end of the year.

Clubs cooking club 2012

Cooking Club

Meets every other Wednesday 3:15 - 4:15 in Mrs. Heilig's room.

First Five week session is for grades 6-8: now in session. 

Second five week session for grades 3-5 begins March 28.

The children in the club make up a menu of an appetizer and something to make as a side dish or dinner.

  We have made cookies and tacos, peanut butter cookies and homemade macaroni and cheese.  We will make homemade pizza and brownies.

The Glee Club

Meets every Monday 3:15-4:15 in room 6A

Grades 5-8

We are a performance chorus that is planning a performance of show tunes in May!

Teacher Moderator: Mrs. Fletcher and parent volunteer Mrs. Bechtel.


 

Math Club

Meets at lunch/recess time every other Friday in 4B.

  The Math Club  is for 3rd and 4th graders who enjoy doing Math for fun.  We do challenging math games and puzzles like sudukos and 24.

Electronics Club

Meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month (no 5th Wednesday meeting) in Classroom 5A/Computer Lab

Grades 5-8

Explores the world of electronics, codes, and wireless technology.

Teacher moderator:  Mrs. Foley

Club leader:  Mr. Andy Leeds, President of the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club; Engineer with Northrop-Grumman

Occasional Guest leader: Mr. Pat Kilroy,  SimSat Principal Investigator for NASA

 


 

Special School Programs

The following are also provided to the students of Saint John Catholic School:

  • Weekly Liturgies
  • Stations of the Cross during Lent, including Living Stations
  • Participation in National Geography Bee
  • Reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent
